I have an H96Max+ Android 4g/32g box with a new cable internet speed of 400mbps. The Wi-Fi connection is faster at 282mbps compared to Ethernet's 140mbps. This was significantly better before the upgrade. Need help?

There is nothing you can do about it other than complain to the vendor. Those Android TV boxes are pretty much proprietary.
You are getting more than 100Mbit which says that the network port has 1Gbit link. I am surprised you are getting 140Mbit, because the specs I find for that device show it only has 100Mbit wired connection.
Either of those speeds are more than enough for any streaming content.
