Open device manager, locate your Ethernet adapter, click right-click and select properties, proceed to advanced settings, then adjust the speed and duplex to 2.5Gbps.

It might still be the cable, it could show at 1gbit but struggle to handle it. Consider using a different cable or test if unplugging and reconnecting restores it to 1 gigabit. I remember something about an old board and the Ethernet controller software interfering. There seems to be a pattern with the PC going to sleep and then freezing at 100mbit. You might want to remove the QOS/priority driver software and just use the basic driver. Also, try disabling wake on LAN.

This feature turns off negotiation for reduced speeds. If the linked device cannot support 2.5Gbps, the connection will remain inactive.

I'll test a different cable this evening and observe the outcome. My setup currently powers off just the screen, not the whole machine. I don't enable sleep mode.

Review the Killer control panel's features for "optimization" settings. It seems their system behaves unexpectedly without the intended options, so sticking to the original manufacturer drivers might be the best approach.

2.5Gb is a high-speed setting many devices struggle with. Trying to force it to 1Gb is my top option. But this only matters if you're linking straight from your PC to the modem.
