Hi, I noticed a similar post earlier but it was resolved. Back then my Ethernet port appeared in ip link show and lshw commands, yet now it’s missing from both interfaces—neither ip link show nor lshw shows anything. It functioned properly before, but after a crash and reboot, it disappeared completely. If anyone has any insights, I’d really appreciate it. Details: I just installed Ubuntu 20.04 on a Gigabyte H510M motherboard two days ago, hoping to fix this issue; it worked for a couple of days.

No, I haven't checked yet. Have you tried updating the Ethernet drivers?

I don’t really understand how, though I’ve learned some basics about Linux (thanks to all the troubleshooting I had to go through, lmao). Honestly, I’d say I’m not very good at it.

Sure, I understand what you're asking about. This helps clarify the process for Windows device manager. Would you like a brief overview of the steps involved?

The port appears visibly harmed, and the lighting indicates this damage clearly.

The port is operating well and the cable functions on another machine (I purchased it about a month ago). The orange indicator stayed on while green flickered unpredictably. I spoke with a friend, who also couldn't locate any issues, so I moved to CentOS as a backup option. Currently it runs smoothly on CentOS, though it worked for two days on Ubuntu too. Hopefully this will hold.

Since it functioned, I've restarted the kernel and made some updates.

Timeline summary: It functioned initially. Then the computer stopped unexpectedly. After troubleshooting, I reinstalled Ubuntu from scratch. It worked again. Two days later it crashed once more without clear cause. I tried fixing it myself but couldn’t resolve it. Eventually, a friend helped, but we didn’t succeed. Finally, we moved to CentOS as a last resort, and now it operates smoothly.

Crashing suggests something is wrong. It seems everything functions smoothly on CentOS, but it's stored on the same disk.
