It’s a bit surprising how much changed compared to Doom(2016). The narrative gets really tangled, especially with the introduction of command ships and other elements that feel out of place. It shifts from a serious tone to something more lighthearted and arcade-like, which has its pros and cons. On one hand, it nods to classic Doom titles; on the other, it feels like a step backward in quality and direction. The controls seem a bit less refined, though they’ll likely get smoother later. Overall, it’s entertaining but doesn’t quite match the depth of its predecessor, and I haven’t decided to return it yet—just hoping for an update to address some of the issues.

Spent a few hours this morning before starting work and it was enjoyable! The visuals are great, the action is solid, and the gameplay feels interesting... the story is a bit shocking but doesn’t really matter for me since I’m not into DOOM. I worry it might become too repetitive, but we’ll find out. Since I haven’t played 2016 yet, I don’t expect much to be missed.

I played Doom 2016 using an i3 6100 Z170 ROG 16 GB 2133 RAM and an HD7850 OC running well with Vulkan. It was unexpected how much better it performed on stronger hardware now compared to back then. For Doom Eternal, I upgraded to a 3700x X370 ROG 16 GB 3200 RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB with an eGPU, achieving great results at ultra 1080p 60 FPS and smoothing to 120 FPS even on weaker setups.

I hope there are fewer arena brawls. A 3xA take on Project Brutality would be perfect.

It's really great! The single-player experience met my expectations—smoother and more diverse than Doom 2016. The multiplayer mode hasn’t impressed me yet; I only tried a few games and still don’t understand what’s going on. I’m disappointed it lacks a deathmatch option.
