It seems you were quite unlucky with your setup—your CPU got fried because you set the voltage too high. You managed to get an RMA from AMD and had it shipped, expected to arrive at their facility by tomorrow’s end. If they’re starting production later that day, you should receive it within a few days. Answers vary widely, sometimes taking weeks and other times just a few days.
I think it really depends on your location. Personally, I'm waiting for an AMD refund on a 5800x that they received back on 3/3/21 but have not refunded me yet. They have an escalated ticket and promise to refund me by the 17th. This experience has mostly convinced me never to buy an AMD product from them, or to deal with their RMA (I believe it is also through digital river) ever again.
I was caught off guard when it fried. I increased the voltage to 1.45v several times in an attempt to capture some impressive benchmark results with my 1700.
I'm based in Virginia, with factories in Miami, Florida. What do you think?
Who knows if it comes from the same warehouse as their store in MN, which could make it quicker? I'm in California.
Well, it's accurate, but I was just wishing for someone here to provide a range—minimum and maximum wait times. I'm not used to such delays, and I've been handling tasks on a laptop that gets painful when using Bluestacks.
