They list many popular games but don’t mention a multiplayer category in Steam.
I played heroes of the storm, but it feels like you're paying for everything or only having minimal options. I think the League is a better choice.
I used to enjoy competitive battlefield games and was a big fan before BF4 changed my perspective. I moved to CS:GO because many of my friends played it. If Hitreg in BF4 wasn't so bad, I wouldn't have started playing CS:GO. I never claimed CS is more realistic, but it feels the smoothest.
Multiplayer focused only? America's Army: Proving Grounds Battlefield 3/4 (version 3 is better but less crowded) Arma III Insurgency Black Ops II GTA V Star Citizen Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Defiance (even if you don't enjoy the series the game is actually quite solid) War Thunder The Elder Scrolls Online performs well (give it a try; ignore the critics) Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn (excellent experience. Best MMO I've played) Star Wars: The Old Republic Other titles: Mass Effect series The Elder Scrolls (Morrowind & Skyrim) Fallout series (mainly New Vegas) Alien: Isolation S.T.A.L.K.E.R Series To the Moon Tomb Raider 2013 Metro Series Spec Ops: The Line Bastion + Transistor Penumbra Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic + Knights of the Old Republic II +42
It's the same as the league, just pays for the skins. I agree the league is better, but I really like it more. I thought I'd suggest HOTS since it's fresh. Actually, I haven't tried it yet—probably because I missed mentioning it. Speaking of, insurgency is definitely a good game if you want a more realistic feel than CS.
IMO isn't an exception. Your thoughts are what matter, but it doesn't alter that you haven't tried Tribes.
The game offers easy skin rotation similar to the league. You earn in-game credits to purchase characters just as in the league. You can buy characters using real money if you prefer not to rely solely on credits, just like in the league. I believe that's the same approach. It's essentially the same system. Personally, I think CS:GO mirrors your experience with tribes. Good news for CS:GO players—the developers have stayed committed, and the player community continues to expand.
