I've already handled many troubleshooting steps for this problem, so I'll focus on the key points I've gathered.
I own a 7900 XTX Red Devil limited edition, and it's causing my system to freeze unexpectedly. The Blue Screen error appears when I increase the refresh rate past 60 HZ.
Hardware details: Ryzen 7 7700X, ROG Strix B650E-F motherboard, 32 GB DDR5 5600 CL36 RAM, custom watercooling for the CPU, 1200W PSU with 80 Plus Platinum.
Monitor: AOC 1440p at 165Hz with Freesync. When refresh rate exceeds 60 HZ, the system freezes completely, locking up with no response to caps lock or audio.
Occasionally a BSOD shows up after about 30 seconds, sometimes immediately, sometimes after several hours of increasing the refresh rate. After a few hours, it just stays frozen without any errors.
I've tested three different SSDs from two manufacturers and tried the latest and previous driver versions, plus a basic Windows adapter.
I've reinstalled Windows 11 multiple times (up to date and older versions) across all these attempts.
The problem seems consistent across all GPUs I've tested, except for Nvidia and AMD models of the previous generation.
I'm comparing to other users on the Guru 3D forums who reported similar BSOD issues.
My monitor has worked fine for years, and I've tried various cables and reduced refresh rates to 90Hz or lower.
I'm considering returning the GPU and switching to an Nvidia model, though I don't want to abandon my AMD setup.
I'm feeling quite frustrated because this is the first major issue with my current system, despite having a good track record with AMD GPUs.
I'm just starting this post to ask for advice, thank you in advance.

I'm facing the same problem with my 7900 XTX from MSI. When connected through HDMI everything functions properly, but using the Display Port causes the PC to freeze and trigger a BSOD within minutes. I've tried disabling features like variable refresh rate, free sync, and adjusting settings, but the issue persists. The only consistent solution so far is using HDMI only, which isn't ideal since my cards only have one HDMI port and three Display Ports. I've updated the GPU drivers using DDU, but it continues to happen. Some users reported success by turning off Free Sync in Adrenaline, adjusting refresh rate in Windows, and enabling hardware acceleration in browsers. I've tried all these options without improvement. It seems we might need to wait for a proper fix from AMD.

I described the problem precisely, exactly as it appears. It’s not unique to me; I usually encounter it when waking up my PC or during idle periods. It doesn’t occur often when I use the system casually.

Exciting news for you all! The newest Adrenalin 23.3.1 release is available, addressing issues like intermittent driver timeouts, system freezes, or BSODs on Radeon™ RX 7000 series GPUs. I've installed it and have been using Display Port since tomorrow, exploring browsing, YouTube, and games. Everything appears to be working smoothly so far.
