Hey everyone, new here and just got a recommendation.
Shortly: I played CS2 and noticed significant MS/Ping lag. I upgraded my Wi-Fi with an extender which seemed to help. At the same time, I replaced my mouse and screen. It worked well during a workshop map session with a friend.
Then suddenly, while moving the mouse during gameplay (no FPS drop or ping), the screen started lagging or tearing.
I asked a friend for advice, they suggested lowering settings, but that didn’t help. I was told to try a pro-player called "donk"’s config.
I added donks autoexec.cfg to my folder and then ran [Mod Edit] (a custom file).
When trying deathmatch matchmaking, it failed because the system reported: “VAC – Some of your game files have been detected to have no signatures or invalid signatures.”
I tried using chatgpt to fix the config, removing and replacing files that didn’t match VAC guidelines. Still nothing worked.
I removed cloud storage, deleted all config files, even tried verifying the game in Steam to download fresh folders, but the issue persisted.
Deleted startup programs like NVIDIA, Razer Cortex, Logitech G Hub, etc., and still faced the same problem.
Removed overlay in Disc or Steam, reverted files, deleted again – still no improvement.
After reinstalling Steam (and deleting all my games except CS2), I reinstalled CS2 only, but the lag continued.
I’ve never used any third-party software or hacks. Just tried to fix the lag myself for two days now.
Anyone have ideas?
My setup: Lenovo LOQ 16APH8, G4 27" Odyssey screen, Logitech G Pro X Lightspeed 2 mouse, Hyperx Cloud headset, SteelSeries keyboard.
I usually run Razer Cortex for performance, around 250 FPS, and it worked fine on other games like Forza Horizon, Wow, F1, Warzone, even on a G9 49" screen.
The VAC problem started after using the autoexec.cfg file, whether I modified it or not.
ChatGPT said: “Trusted Mode checks. Now CS2 is failing the environment scan every time you join MM.”
I tested the game in BOT lobbies – no lag, so it seems resolved (though online lobbies might still vary due to ping spikes).
In short, I can’t play the game anymore.
Thanks for all your help.
