I provided him with the number once more, and we plan to attempt it again the following day. However, I believe this won’t alter the outcome.

Only one update allowed within an hour. Future updates will be removed. Please be more patient; don’t reply frequently.

Thank you for the details. I wasn’t aware of this before. I’ll let him know. Apologies for being a bit busy with the previous update.

If you're not being entirely forthright with us, or your friend's not being entirely forthright with you, and some form of piracy or cracking is going on here, then no, no number of calls to Microsoft or attempts to use the activation troubleshooter will work. And if those things are involved, you should run ALL the virus scanners because the computer has herpes.

Don't stress, the product code is valid! I was present when he made the purchase!

I reached out a few times during the Windows 7 period; it's an automated process and typically resolves within 15 minutes. Since Windows 10, I've never needed to contact MS for activation.

I've experienced this with a few keys bought from a place called "FleaBay." These are questionable, gray-market MSDN or corporate bulk keys, and sometimes getting them to work is a bit frustrating. It hasn’t stopped me from trying, but it’s strange that a W10 key wouldn’t activate properly, and even more surprising that Microsoft doesn’t respond.
