I've used an Asus Z170-a Prime motherboard for some time. This morning Windows showed an over current warning. When trying to boot, I got a "USB device over current status detected" error and the system shut down. I've already tried unplugging USB devices, clearing internal headers, resetting CMOS, removing the battery, and reinserting it. Despite these steps, the issue persists. Any other suggestions for resolving this?

Check every USB connector on your motherboard carefully, searching for any wear or debris that might cause a connection issue.

No harm detected, so I’ll likely order a new board.

You need to address a hardware issue with the board, as it cannot be resolved by you alone.
