I recently assembled my PC and the Windows BSD booted up shortly after startup if the RAM was configured in XMP mode. Would you suggest tweaking timings, frequency, or voltage, or should I just return the RAM? I only managed to complete the Windows installation because it was booting from the start. I performed a BIOS flash and the BSD disappeared entirely, but I realized the issue stemmed from the flash overwriting BIOS settings. Enabling XMP gives instant boot after login, whereas disabling it results in a stable system where I could run benchmarks and stress tests—clearly pointing to faulty RAM. My build: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 MSI B450 Tomahawk Max G. Skill Ripjaws V 3600 EVGA RTX 2060 KO Ultra Crucial MX500 1TB EVGA 500BR (initially a bad deal, now two defective units are unfortunately on the way).

It should definitely support running XMP by default. Yes, it’s a proper RMA to request replacement RAM right away if it fails to boot XMP.

Explore the bios section for SOC voltage readings. If the value is below 1.1V, consider adjusting it to 1.15V as a potential solution.

The bios sets the voltage to auto, which provides a varying level around 1.368-72V. Since you're already experiencing higher values, you might want to adjust it manually. The exact manual setting isn't specified, but typical limits depend on your RAM model. Check the manufacturer's guidelines for your specific RAM (https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-...6820232882).

Tried 3200, it runs smoothly (used prime95 with auto voltage). For 3600, suggest setting it to "auto" again; it currently averages around 1.36–1.38V for stable performance.

Oof, unclear about the details. The CPU max is listed at 3200MHz. Board specs aren’t certain. I’d gradually raise it to 3200MHz and check stability before moving up. Probably won’t hit 3600MHz with this configuration.

Many users stick to the 3200 spec, but I've noticed 3600mhz is often recommended for a Ryzen 5 3600. Edit: the BSOD message says "VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR" by the way, and I didn't mention that earlier.
