Error: PC not responding to commands.
Hey there, I'm trying to get my dad's PC up and running with UEFI, but it's not cooperating. I've got a 5600G motherboard with an ASRock B450m/AC, stock cooler, XPG 3200MHZ 2x8GB RAM, and a 650W Thermaltake GF1. After installing the 2032 coin battery and reseating the RAM, everything else seems fine—CPU cooler reset didn't help, power connectors were checked, and I even tried shorting the pins to see if it would trigger a reboot. The board doesn't show any LEDs or sounds, and I can't access the UEFI/BIOS screen. It's acting up even when I connect it to a discrete GPU separately. Have you seen if a BIOS update is needed? Any tips would be super helpful!
Start by resetting the BIOS—place a small plastic cap on a few pins and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. If that doesn’t work, consider upgrading to an older CPU such as a 3600 or similar model. You can purchase a cheaper one, install it, and it should boot into the BIOS. Once there, update the BIOS to the latest version before replacing the CPU. If none of these steps resolve the issue, feel free to return here.
