Error occurs during bios operation when xmp feature is activated.
I recently installed an i9 11900k and adjusted the voltage down by 0.1v to lower temperatures and cut fan noise. Everything functioned normally until a restart triggered a BIOS error displaying "Failure to boot" with options for default settings. After another restart, the issue resolved. I enabled XMP in BIOS and the same failure occurred again. Once I reset everything to defaults using the Intel XTU, temperatures and voltages returned to normal, but XMP still prevented booting. I ran a memory test and everything appeared fine, including a fresh BIOS flash and identical results. If anyone has suggestions on resolving this, I’d really appreciate it!
XMP isn't a reliable option—it's more of a pre-set safe profile. Turn it off, adjust the clock speed, voltage, and main timings to match the DIMM specs, then let the board handle the rest.
Thanks for the update, same outcome I expected. After adjusting bios and saving, the PC would restart, the boot light would activate, and then the VGA light would flash repeatedly. This caused fans to speed up and slow down until the same boot failure occurred again. I’m considering replacing the GPU, even though my system still functions and I have a KF CPU.
3200 works well for the 11th generation. Consider testing at 3000 as well.
Attempted a fix, but I can't even access the BIOS. Everything seems to be back to normal. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong since the issue started after an undervolt situation, but it resolved itself.
