Error occurred after RAM upgrade, need assistance :(
Hi guys, im new to the forum but i need help. Im going to explain my situation: Today i got a ram upgrade for my rig, i allredy had 16gb of trident z 3000 ram and got another kit of 16 with the same specs. The rig went fine for the last couple of months but after poping the ram into the system, it wont boot. The motherboard says cpu error even though i havent done anything. Im going to list my specs and tell you what i allredy tried. Mobo: b450 tomahawk Cpu: Ryzen 3600 Gpu: Rtx 2060S Ram: 32Gb trident z 300 Psu: TX750M What i tried: -reseating the cpu (tried it twice) -puting in individual ram sticks (all, only 1, putting it back how it was initially) -unplugged every fan in case anything was shorting I noticed something oily on the motherboard under the vrms/condensator but it doesnt look like a leak as it doesnt look dry. I find it weird that it all started after the upgrade. The only thing i can think of is trying to update the bios or unplug everything out of the case and try to run it. Do you guys have any ideas on what it could be? Thank you in advance. Alex (if there are typos, sorry, im tiping from my phone)
I encountered the first problem I noticed and paused. The next would have been testing removal of the new RAM while keeping the old one. That approach seems to have been attempted too. If single sticks didn’t resolve the issue, it’s likely another cause. Staying on the RAM topic and verifying no components are in a port might be useful. Sometimes a minor impact can push something past the breaking point. I’m not familiar with this “oily” situation—someone else might know.
In summary, I managed to restart after updating the BIOS (even though I usually did so when installing the CPU), which is good news since updates can be done without a functional CPU. Everything worked smoothly afterward. Anyone facing similar problems should give this a try.
