I think you're attempting to install Windows onto a USB drive instead of an HDD. That won't function properly within Windows unless you have an enterprise license. You'll need third-party tools to do this with Windows 10. It worked on Windows 7 and 8, but that capability is now limited to enterprise environments.

The issue is that I don’t have admin access, and I’m completely unsure how to proceed.

It seems there might be some confusion about your computer and its settings. You mentioned not remembering the admin password, which doesn’t seem logical since you’re trying to access it. It looks like you might need to check if the folder is protected or if you’re missing a step in moving files. Also, transferring a Windows installation from a USB to a hard drive is a common task—please clarify your goal so I can assist you better.

I tried setting up Windows on my laptop using a USB drive, but it kept asking for admin privileges. I’m not sure how to create an admin account or handle the permissions.

Right, you want to create a usb boot drive onto your usb using the Windows Media Creation Tool Do not install windows onto the usb, you want to just create the drive then plug it into your new computer and then select an empty drive for it to install onto.

You're confused about why you shouldn't use the admin account for your personal device. It might seem unnecessary, but accessing the admin panel is often required for system changes or troubleshooting.
