I was attempting to relocate some items across my desk and noticed additional USB ports available. I considered purchasing a USB-C hub to utilize the unused port. After acquiring them, I connected the hub and inserted my joystick for testing. The device activated and lit up, but Windows failed to recognize it. I tried without the cable or hub, just connecting directly to the motherboard without success. I suspected a missing driver, so I downloaded one from Gigabyte’s site, but the installer couldn’t detect any devices. The newest version worked, yet nothing appeared in Device Manager or AIDA64. It isn’t listed in Dev Manager or AIDA64, though I can physically see the motherboard—model Gigabyte Z370 HD3P (rev. 1.0). The ASMedia 3142 controller is an ASMedia 3142 chipset. Anyone have any advice? I’m beginning to suspect a faulty motherboard or host controller. If I overlooked something obvious, I won’t hesitate to be called an idiot.
