Hi, after the update I encountered this problem linked on GitHub. The fix suggested didn’t match what I have, so I’m trying to understand better. The modules mentioned aren’t related to pulse, and removing them didn’t help because they’re needed for timing features and certain utilities. I don’t want to delete those tools. I need a way to prevent pulse from using them, so the error disappears. Also, someone advised running the app in the background, but I’m unsure where to add that command. If I edit the app settings and append “--gapplication-service” at the end, I get a permission error about writing to a specific folder. What should I do? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

These are GTK components that may have been altered or removed and are probably not the main cause of your problem. Assuming Manjaro uses pipewire with pipewire-pulse by default rather than PulseAudio, have you tried adding EasyEffects from the official source? Using pacman -Sy easyeffects. If you're not sure whether PulseEffects was renamed to EasyEffects when it began affecting pipewire, these issues are likely connected. You'll need to install linux-zen or anbox-modules-dkms from the AUR to fix them, or remove Anbox/Waydroid packages. These concerns relate to Virtualbox; you should install virtualbox-host-dkms or eliminate Virtualbox. This situation makes sense since appimagelauncher has been poorly maintained and hasn't received an official release since 2020—consider avoiding it.

Hi Nayr438, thanks for your assistance. I previously attempted Pipewire and EasyEffects but encountered issues and was told I couldn't use Pipewire since it doesn't support Jack2. The forum post you referenced suggests using Jack2 with Dbus integration instead. Whenever I tried installing "manjaro-pipewire" through the guide, I received an error about missing dependencies, specifically pulseaudio=16.0-1. I decided to stick with EasyEffects because it offers more system compatibility options. I'm looking for ways to identify problematic GTK modules that might be causing these problems so I can edit, remove, or reinstall them if needed. The attempts to add, remove, or discover fixes didn't yield results. Also, thank you again for pointing out the other issues you found—I wasn’t even aware they were a problem until you mentioned it. I realized I had installed Anbox and appimagelaucher some time ago, but I hadn’t sought further help on the Manjaro forums. While browsing Reddit, I stumbled upon something that seemed relevant, but I thought I’d just laugh at it. Now I feel more aware of the situation and confirmed what others have said. Don’t display humor in Linux forums.

Run pacman with the specified packages for 32-bit libraries. Check if the required modules exist on your Arch system. A possible alternative command is pacman -S libcanberra xapp

I need to take a short break, but I'll try my best and update you once I'm back. Thanks again, Nayr438!

Hey Nayr438, just wanted to share an update. It turns out I got some assistance from the manjaro forum members. The discussion was pretty lengthy, but we successfully installed Pipewire and removed the issues—PEffects and boot errors vanished. I still appreciate your help, even though I did try running the commands on the forum users, but they didn’t respond. Here’s the link to the post: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/inxi-fazy-sa.../114602/49.

Moving on to my next project... I’m trying to run Vulkan on my 29 290 again. I recently learned that Proton + Vulkan might now work through the pre-installed Radv drivers and the ACO compiler, so I don’t need to use AMD GPU for it. Probably I’ll post another update soon, since my knowledge seems a bit outdated. Thanks again for your support!

pipewire-manjaro acts as a meta-package bundling various dependencies such as gst-plugin-pipewire, pipewire, pipewire-alsa, pipewire-pulse, and pipewire-session-manager. It functions similarly to pacman with the command syntax you mentioned. The equivalent of pacman would be using pipewire-session-manager instead of pipewire-pulse or pipewire-zeroconf. It doesn’t include a pipewire-jack feature, but pipewire-session-manager serves that role. The pipewire-media-session implementation has been reinstated in the repository to accommodate users with split systems, and it’s not strictly necessary unless you’re streaming audio over a network. pipewire-jack is an alternative to the jack2 package and is sometimes swapped for pipewire alongside pulseaudio. Manjaro may eventually replace its session-manager component within the meta-package, which is acceptable. I just wanted to make sure those points are clear. It’s good you’re working with it! For reference, Vulkan-Radeon/RADV is part of the AMDGPU setup in Mesa, and you’ll still need to enable support for Sea Islands if you use them. However, I don’t personally use Manjaro or have a Sea Islands Card, so it’s possible it can be enabled by default.
