Over the last month, after upgrading my setup, I’ve faced persistent problems with random crashes in my games, especially in Grand Theft Auto V where the error code (err_gfx_d3d) keeps appearing. I’ve explored every possible fix—from checking Reddit threads and tech forums to watching tutorials and downloading driver updates. Initially, I suspected issues related to my 3050 graphics card and Nvidia drivers. I attempted uninstalling and reinstalling drivers via DDU, updating through GeForce Experience, and even tried older GPU versions. Swapping the RTX 3050 for a GTX 1080 Ti also didn’t resolve the issue.

I removed the old drivers with DDU, installed the latest ones from Nvidia, and even tried using a different GPU model. However, the crash persisted. I also replaced my motherboard (ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F) and CPU (RYZEN 7 5600X), but the problems continued. Occasionally, on my previous motherboard, the same errors would occur.

Recently, I saved up enough money to replace both the motherboard and CPU at Best Buy, only to find that games kept crashing again within a couple of weeks. I’ve also experienced game crashes on Steam, Epic Games, and even Roblox—sometimes without any apparent reason. The PC has been running smoothly on Steam and Epic for some time, but not on Roblox.

I’ve tried reinstalling Windows 10 and 11 multiple times, followed by all the steps I mentioned earlier, yet nothing seems to work. I’m hoping someone can help me identify the root cause or share useful advice. Here’s a link to my PC’s parts list: [PC Parts List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Gngm4s). I’ve also attached a photo of the setup.

Turn off all overclocking settings, remove every game overlay application (Steam, Discord, Nvidia, RTSS, etc.), clear D3DCSX_46.DLL and D3DComplier.DLL from your game directory, reinstall DirectX, and restart your computer before launching the game again. If necessary, delete all GTA-related files and cache, then reinstall the game.

I've reinstalled Windows periodically. That should've resolved the issue. wdym

It's unusual for a game launcher overlay to cause this problem, as it hasn't happened before.
