I believe I solved the issue after testing it myself. Avoid calling the file "filename.zip"; instead, use just the name "filename". It looks like adding .zip changes the perception of the filename to something like filename.zip and as a zip folder it interprets it incorrectly. Try renaming the folder to OTA and then placing OTA.zip in adb, which should resolve the problem. Big Grin

I'm facing the same issue. Could you confirm whether this should function in TWRP recovery mode or separately? Does the device need to be rooted for it to work? When I boot into the system and check adb devices, I see the serial number and an unauthorized label next to it. Should it display "sideload" instead of something else?

I encountered the same issue while setting up LineageOS on my tablet. It seems I made a mistake earlier that unlocked ADB commands, so I followed this guide here: (you can skip the first part about installing Java) https://www.how2shout.com/how-to/fix-err...mmand.html

Hey there, I faced the same issue for about 20 minutes. The "solution" didn't help at first. Before joining this forum, I'd tried everything, but when moving the file, I transferred it from Downloads to Documents and Desktop—both are in OneDrive. The fix came when I moved it to another partition where OneDrive couldn't access it, and then the antivirus asked for permission. Probably because in OneDrive folders the antivirus didn't want to interfere, maybe because this account was set up just for this purpose.

I have another approach. The issue stemmed from hidden extensions and Opera browser's behavior. I downloaded a ROM using Opera and saved it as ROM.zip.opdownload. Because of some technical glitches, it didn't download fully. When attempting to sideload the file, Windows failed to recognize it and the extension wasn't displayed correctly. I tried disabling the "Hide extensions for known file types" option in Folder Options and removing the .opdownload suffix, but the file remained corrupted. Later, using a command prompt helped reveal the true file name, showing me the actual path. Ultimately, I had to re-download the file, which now saved properly as a standard zip file.

The issue was the same. Opera didn’t work properly. It happened because you didn’t download the file correctly. Just try opening the .zip file and extracting it. P.S. Thanks for understanding.

To turn off Windows Defender, you’ll need to adjust its settings or disable it temporarily.
