If it still displays black screens, there’s probably a BIOS configuration problem on your side. If you’d rather use Debian instead of Ubuntu, consider trying Sid or Unstable.

I set up Ubuntu 18.10 without much hesitation. I accessed the live installation and selected the hard drive. It wasn’t the top pick initially, but it worked fine.
