Error indicating critical memory access issue in Windows.
I changed my PC parts, swapping the processor and memory from an i7-6700 and an Asrock B150M Pro4 to an i9-9900K and a Rog Strix Z390-F. After returning home, most of the setup was resolved, but I kept seeing the blue screen error with the code “IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL” three times in just two days. I ran diagnostics, updated the BIOS and drivers, but the issue persisted. I double-checked compatibility before purchasing everything, so it shouldn’t have been a problem. Anyone know what might be causing this? I’ve tried the fixes on the Microsoft site and Windows 10 is current. The error feels completely random—first time while playing WoWs, second while offline, third after a PC scan and defragmentation. It’s confusing, do you think my components or the system scan with Advanced System Repair Pro might be the cause?
The issues stem from either an incorrect CPU overclocking or insufficient RAM, or faulty RAM modules.
I didn't heavily boost the i9 since you noticed temperature issues before, probably due to the RAM. I'm using a 2x8GB D4 2400 16GB C14 Corsair Ven K2, which never caused problems until after the CPU and memory upgrades. Even when I tried to overclock the integrated memory, it didn't work. I won't do that again for a while—until next year when I upgrade the GPU, then the basic clock will be sufficient. I still need to fix the minor temperature spikes between 50 to 96 degrees. It seems the chipset drivers might be the issue. It looks like the board and CPU were swapped, yet Windows remained installed.
It might point to a problem with the hard drive. Download Memtest86, create a USB drive from it, and run it for about 24 hours to check for any issues.
This process just sets up the USB, then you need to restart and load it onto the device to start using it.
