Error in purchasing a 5800x model.
I successfully placed an order for a 5800X that should arrive soon. I aimed for a processor with more than six cores to ensure longer gaming sessions and future use, but thought twelve might be excessive for current needs. After reviewing recent comparisons of the new Zen 3 CPUs in terms of price, performance, and value, I feel a bit regretful about my choice. It seems like spending an additional hundred dollars on a model with four extra cores, more threads, and double the cache would have been a better investment. The 5800X now sits in a less favorable position compared to what I could have gotten. What do you think?
For casual gaming and light video editing, it should work fine. The 5900x seems more affordable, but since it's unavailable everywhere, sticking with the 5800x is a safer choice.
Perfect, this processor looks solid. Consider checking recent feedback before making your next purchase.
The 5800X seems to be a top choice for future gaming needs, especially compared to other models that have split their L3 cache. Performance improvements for non-gaming tasks will vary based on your software. If you can offload much of the GPU work, the CPU impact might be less significant than expected. Unfortunately, AMD released both the product and review at the same time, which could lead to high demand and sell out quickly.
Unless you're concerned about resale value, missing out on the benefits of the 5900X would have cost you more than necessary. Picture swapping your car's engine for a Ferrari at nearly double the price, then driving it slowly in the city at just 30 km/h to run errands and come home. Sure, it's more powerful and upscale, but you'd end up $100 worse off with no justification.
It seems you're considering whether the performance gap between the 5800X and 5900X is significant enough to matter. If you don't plan to use features that fully utilize the extra power of the 5900X, it might not be worth the investment. It's unlikely games will start relying heavily on more than six or eight cores soon, but a new upgrade could still come around eventually.
The 5800x ranks as the lowest among the four options, yet you remain in a stronger position compared to other Intel users (lol)
