Sorry, there was no success. I attempted to use alt-tabbing while the config files were missing, modified, or unchanged. I currently have NVIDIA driver 382.33 installed, and I don’t have GeForce Experience.

I thought it might help to let you know the problem was related to audio configuration with Direct X. Games weren't playing sound, but VLC and Chrome worked perfectly. I reinstalled the audio drivers and everything resolved. To be clear: skip reaching out to Square Enix support—they’re completely ineffective. They only advised checking the game, reinstalling Steam, and the game itself. Then they emailed me saying thanks and promising follow-up. When I asked more questions, I got the same email requesting another install.
