You’re facing a limitation with your current setup. The drive you’re using has limited free space—565GB total with only 931GB available—so creating a 250GB partition isn’t possible directly. You may need to expand the drive or use a larger external storage solution.

The built-in Windows utility isn't great, perhaps a superior partition manager is worth considering.

Use a secondary partition for better organization. Place files in a single folder on the main partition. To reduce space further, defragment the drive.

Consider reducing the current partition to leave enough unused space, then generate a fresh partition to occupy that remaining area.

I'll attempt to defragment the drive. It seems adding files to the main partition won't help because I need to format the partition for a fresh installation.

Create a directory and store your documents there...? It doesn't seem necessary to set up a separate drive for this.

Consider moving your files to another drive or using backups. Don’t depend on data still in another partition during a reinstall—things can go wrong. Backups are essential.

It seems you might want to utilize several drives for this task.

Consider using AOMEI Partition Manager. It functioned perfectly for me. I recommend performing a clean install then utilizing the Partition Manager feature to achieve your goals. Plus, it’s completely free. http://www.disk-partition.com/free-parti...nager.html
