My PC has been built recently with high-end components. I recently purchased another set of identical RAM a week ago, but the XMP settings stopped working. After changing them and exiting the BIOS, my system experiences multiple boot cycles before finally starting, and it runs at 2100MHz instead of the expected 3200MHz. Overclocking via AMD Ryzen Master didn’t resolve the issue. Could you help figure out why?
I received two 8GB Patriot Steel Viper 3733 units and two 8GB Patriot Viper RGB 3600 models. The first set works fine with XMP profiles enabled in BIOS, but the second one causes immediate crashes and restarts on the desktop. Turning off XMP in BIOS and adjusting the memory clock to 1800 (which is 3600 in the Ryzen Master) doesn’t resolve the problem. It seems the system is sensitive to memory modules, especially with Ryzen.
I understand that some second-generation Ryzen models may encounter RAM speeds around 2900mhz or higher, but this depends on the specific CPU. Each unit is different, not just about individual RAM sticks. The third-generation Ryzen supports up to 3200mhz consistently.
I own four 8GB XPG Spectrix DDR4 3200D60G units that function perfectly when XMP is active. I noted that some RAM sticks may struggle to sync well with Ryzen 2 processors. The same applies to Ryzen+ models, where reaching 3200Mhz or more really hinges on the specific RAM chosen.
