Hi everyone. Today I attempted to use PowerShell and encountered an error when trying to open it. I switched PowerShell off and on via the control panel settings, but it didn’t work. Searching for PowerShell in the search bar also failed—no results appeared. It seems similar issues occur with CMD and Run as well. I’m now forced to use Task Manager to manage these tasks. While I haven’t tried reformatting windows, I’m considering it as a last resort.

Check if the PowerShell file is absent in the specified path. Toggling Windows PowerShell 2.0 via Optional Features refers to enabling it in the system settings.

I hadn’t considered verifying this route... but I did check the folder and PowerShell is present, so I can execute it from there. It looks like there’s a problem with the Start menu because it prevents starting things directly from there (PowerShell, cmd, run, etc.). Regarding the second point, yes, that was correct. Edit: I also attempted to run it via shortcuts and pinned it to the Start menu, but it still doesn’t work. It only functions when launched from the folder.

It seems your Start Menu shortcuts aren’t working properly. Launch Run and type the following path: %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Powershell. Once you’re in, right-click each shortcut and verify the settings match correctly. For 64-bit PowerShell, it should be: %SystemRoot%\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe. If everything looks accurate, the problem might lie with your user profile—consider using a new profile or manually fixing the shortcuts for each executable.

Thanks a lot! It finally works now. I tried the same steps for Command and Run too.
