I recently purchased Age of Mythology at work last night (Office Depot) for $2. After installing it on my PC, it didn’t run, so I searched online and found it won’t work with Windows 10 due to driver incompatibility. I’m not too upset because the cost was only $2, and I thought I’d check the internet for a solution. I’m wondering if there’s any way to fix this or if I’m stuck with a broken game. I also know I can buy it on Steam and run it in a virtual machine, but I just want to see if the CD version will work.

I initially thought you might want to test it inside a virtual machine, though you’re aware of that. It could be straightforward, but running it in compatibility mode might help.

It's likely better to execute it within a virtual machine.

Check if you can use the CD key on Steam, then try launching it through that platform. It may not make a big difference if it works, but it’s worth giving it a try.

If you have a key, check if it works on Steam to obtain AoM. AoM is an older game that has been remastered for compatibility with newer Windows versions via Steam. I purchased my copy from Steam specifically because the original CD wouldn’t function properly.

Thanks for your responses. Sadly, the key isn't usable with Steam and I've given up on the VM concept. Still, appreciate the guidance.
