Hello. I'm attempting to remove a file whose owner is controlled by TrustedInstaller. I've reviewed the guides, but my Windows 10 version seems to differ from others'. It feels odd that I can't find the option mentioned to switch owners on subcontainers and objects. Not being able to check this box means the ownership change won't actually happen. I still can't view the permissions or adjust them. The first screenshot shows what most people see, the second looks like something else entirely, and the third proves I'm not losing my mind while still unable to modify access rights even after setting myself as the owner. Please assist me!

Select a guiding principle first, then the checkbox will appear. This is typical.

Upon making adjustments, the screen updates. Entering 'administrator' updates ownership, yet a checkbox remains unselected.

Have you considered changing the ownership of the specific file? You might also want to move up to a parent folder, regain full access, and then apply the same settings to subdirectories and files. EDIT: It seems you're adjusting the file's permissions directly now. Since it's not a directory, no subfolders or files are affected, which is why the option isn't visible.

I updated my entry right away after noticing this. When you transfer the ownership of one file, the folder section won’t show up because it’s not a directory—meaning no subfolders or additional files will appear, since it remains just a single file.

The same issue occurred to me, but I managed to resolve it using CMD/Powershell. Steps included changing ownership to admin with takeown and adjusting permissions via PowerShell commands.

It seems the guide you were checking wasn't meant for individual files. No worries, just a bit of clarification needed.
