yeah, tried all the usb ports and I think usb ports are not working at all. I did plug a usb mic into it and the led did light up, so maybe it's not totally dead ye, power was off for way longer than that when I removed, and reinstalled the cpu. But I just unplugged it again for 10 minutes and it's the same. I have created a linux usb drive, but can't get it to work either because I think my ssd has highest boot priority. I will borrow a screwdriver from my neighbor to remove the heatsink and see if it boots into linux if my windows ssd is removed. In case my keyboard still doesn't work, even when I'm in linux, what does that mean? My cpu or motherboard is broken?
After resetting the CMOS by removing the battery from under my GPU, USB devices are now working again. I also managed to boot into Linux successfully. However, when trying to start Windows, I encountered a blue screen with a 0xc0000098 error about BCD issues. Pressing F1 restarts the computer and returns me to the same screen. After rebooting with a Windows USB stick, I used cmd and found that bootrec /rebuildbcd failed because it couldn't locate the system device. There seems to be no straightforward way to repair Windows without reinstalling, as losing settings would be a big concern.
I attempted to resolve the issue but the automatic repair didn’t succeed. It seems I had to handle this manually. Yesterday I ran "bootrec /rebuildbcd," but it failed. The German version of the command prompt confused me, but it indicated a Windows installation was found in C:—yet when I clicked yes, it said the device couldn’t be located. Could it be that during the update Windows removed my system partition? I opened Notepad via cmd and saw the drives: C: (the SSD with everything), D: (my Windows USB), and X: (the boot partition). There’s a 435MB partition labeled E:, likely the system partition. When I opened it, a recovery.txt file appeared—created yesterday at 2am while I was troubleshooting. I tried several commands, but none worked; bootrec /fixboot failed with access denied, BCDboot didn’t work, bcdedit crashed, and Bootsect /nt60 also reported the system partition wasn’t found. I have a screenshot of "list disk," "list part," and "list vol" showing two disks. My SSD is connected, and my USB stick is plugged in. After selecting the SSD, list part displayed two partitions. Is that correct? Shouldn’t there be a 100MB partition containing system files? I was told the system partition needs to be fat32, but mine looks NTFS. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this without reinstalling Windows? Also, are I worried about having two boot managers when choosing a boot device?
