Hey everyone, I’m putting together a PC for a young gamer who plays Fortnite, Warzone and similar games. It’s working great when everything is turned on normally—boots up fast, no issues while playing or idling. But when I try to restart from Windows, the system freezes. It shuts down but stays on with a black screen, fans spinning, and the CPU debug light illuminates. After a few attempts, it restarts again, but everything seems fine afterward.

I’ve checked all the usual fixes: updated drivers, latest MSI BIOS, different power settings, running with just one RAM stick or swapping them, even shorting the restart switch on the case. Still nothing changes. It feels like something software-related, but I’m not sure what. I’m really hoping someone can help me figure this out. Thanks a lot!

Reset the CMOS. Refresh the chipset drivers. Run memtest86 to verify there’s no RAM issue.

I forgot to mention that I've reset the CMOS multiple times. All drivers have been updated. I'll attempt to run a test now, please!

Open Command Prompt and execute: shutdown /r -t 0. Check if the system restarts correctly or remains stuck. Earlier I faced the same problem—likely due to fast boot or sleep settings in Windows. Turning them off resolved the issue.

Thank you for the suggestion, but it hasn't resolved the issue. I've already turned off fast-boot in Windows and set all power sleep options to "never." It seems like there might be another factor at play.

Do you possess an additional storage device that can be used to set up a brand-new Windows installation? This will assist in determining whether the issue stems from hardware or software causes.
