I got a PC as a present since it wasn't being used at my office and it functioned perfectly. After bringing it home I put it together, swapped the HDD for an SSD, and added a 4GB module (4GB ADATA 2133mHz DDR4). Windows displayed 12GB, but I upgraded to Windows 11 and adjusted BIOS settings. It still won't boot. I tried using only the 4GB module, but adding more RAM isn't possible. When I booted with just the 8GB RAM it didn't start. I updated BIOS, reset to defaults, cleared CMOS, bought a new 8GB module but nothing works. The system only boots with the 4GB RAM unit. My setup includes: - Motherboard: Gigabyte H410M H V3 - CPU: Intel Core i3 10100 - RAM: ADATA 4GB 2133mHz DDR4, ADATA 4GB 2666mHz DDR4 - GPU: Integrated graphics - Storage: Kingston 250GB SSD

Have you checked if the RAM fits in all the available slots? It’s possible you might have affected the memory controller on the CPU with incorrect settings, which could cause only one slot to work—or even limit certain capacities. If you can access another CPU, try it out after testing all the different slots.

Inspect the CPU socket on the motherboard for any bent pins.

Only the 4GB 2133MHz unit fits in the B1 port, no other RAM is compatible with that slot, and this part functions exclusively in that specific location

It seems like a lighthearted comment, but you’ve experienced issues with the 3-4 resets or multiple flash cycles before use. You’re wondering if there’s another device to test—like the 8G module or CPU—to determine if the problem lies in BIOS settings or hardware failure.

I checked the RAM on a different DDR4 board and it functioned, but I don’t have another LGA1200 slot board to try my CPU.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS again? Was the 4G stick used to reflash the UEFI with the latest version? Intel ARK indicates the CPU supports 128GB DDR4 2666 2Ch, which should work unless there’s an issue with the CPU, memory, or UEFI. I’d confirm you re-flashed the UEFI since that’s free and might fix the problem.
