Error encountered: Signal not detected 6700xt
Purchased a XFX 6700XT to swap in place of my GTX1070. Connected with a Gen 4 riser cable inside an SFF case. No problems with the 1070. Set up the 6700xt monitor but it shows no signal. All three fans are spinning on the GPU. Verified both PCIe power cables, ensuring they were fully seated. Tightened everything with the riser. Reinstalled the card—still nothing. Restarted and booted into BIOS, set PCIE mode to Gen 3, but nothing changed. Only PC I own besides a laptop allows me to swap GPUs to another motherboard. No integrated graphics available. Is this a riser issue or should I consider a B550 motherboard? I don’t want to return just to face the same problem with an RTX3050.
SPECS:
- B450 iGPU
- AORUS PRO Mini ITX (F62 BIOS Rev)
- 5600X
- 16GB DDR4
- 3200MHz
- 800W PSU
- SFX-L PSU
- GEEEK Case
- PCIe 4.0 X16 RISER
- Windows 10 64-bit
Welcome to the discussions! It seems when you start with the 6700XT, you don’t even see the POST screen? Is it really posting? If not, it might be a dead end. RMA time coming up. I’d begin with DDU. Switching from NV to AMD could cause problems if you skip clearing all the NV driver files in Windows. Also, the 6700XT seems to draw significantly more power than the 1070, yet an 800W power supply should handle it. Could you try removing the case and mounting the GPU directly to check if the issue lies with the riser? It’s definitely a tough situation, but we can try to pinpoint the problem.
Sure, if your GPU has sufficient power, it’s likely the issue is out of reach. A nearby friend with a tower—or someone who knows how to handle IT—might be able to try transferring it elsewhere.
The card started up smoothly with a 3060 boot. Appreciate your assistance!
