I recently upgraded my Medion Akoya E6221 laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It functioned properly for a couple of days until I encountered an issue: after turning it on, the system booted into the Win 10 logo screen and then displayed a completely black screen with no cursor. This remained unchanged for hours, with no indication of progress. Occasionally, if the display wasn't fully black (50/50 chance), it would enter recovery mode and try to recover, but that process failed. After reinstalling Windows 10, everything worked during installation, yet once it booted into Windows it became blank again. I also performed a full HDD wipe via recovery options, but since I was at work, it took several hours and nothing was deleted. I’m considering reinstalling Windows 7, though Microsoft doesn’t provide the OS without a product key, so I’m hesitant to spend money on an uncertain fix. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I updated Windows in English instead of Polish, yet the issue with the screen going black still occurs. I managed to resolve it by putting the laptop to sleep and restarting it, which I have to do each time I turn it on. It's frustrating but functional. I don’t understand the root cause, though. Booting in safe mode might help with troubleshooting, but I’m unsure what signs to watch for.

Consider these steps:
- On a black screen, press Win+P twice and then Enter. If this fails, try once more.
- Update drivers for your graphics card.
- Turn off Fast Boot by going to Start, selecting Power, choosing a power plan, then adjusting settings in the side column.
- Uncheck "Turn on fast startup" and save changes before restarting.
