Error encountered during the fresh Windows 11 installation.
You just set up a brand new Windows 11 version, added your graphics card driver, installed Steam, and ran one game. After about half an hour the program stopped working. I looked into the Event Viewer and found this log entry. It seems to show repeated warnings or errors. If you share all of them, it could become a long list. Mostly they were similar. Here’s the link to the image: https://imgur.com/a/goIObGZ.
Key points from the log:
- Name of the crashed app: UplayWebCore.exe (version 144.0.10906)
- Faulting module: libcef.dll (version 111.2.2.0)
- Exception code: 0xc0000005
- Error details include fault offsets and process info
- The crash happened around 8:03 AM on August 5, 2023
To fix it, you might want to:
- Restart your computer and see if the issue persists
- Check for updates or conflicts with other software
- Run a system file checker
- Consider uninstalling and reinstalling Steam or the game
- If problems continue, run a clean boot or use Windows Update
Let me know what you find!
It seems the instructions were cut off, but based on what was shared, it looks like you're facing permission issues with the Ubisoft app. Reinstalling the app might help. Also, note any initials in your error messages for reference. The main issue likely involves missing drivers or an outdated BIOS/UEFI.
Are you working on Division 2? Sorry, CTD is fine for Division 2.
That's understandable, people can recognize my name as Josh and I'm fine with that. Sadly, the issue has come up now. I think the main reason is that running at very high RAM speeds for a long time on XMP settings led to my 13700s IMC degrading. This seems like my best explanation since I've updated PSU, RAM, MOBI, NVME, and GPU. It looks like my CPU might be saving up to upgrade to the 13900, which should hopefully resolve the problem.
It seems like only one issue was reported, which makes it hard to address properly. I’ll do my best to assist despite the limited details. Consider disabling the in-game overlay and checking if Ubisoft Connect works with admin rights. Unfortunately, I can’t provide further help without more information.
I've encountered this problem in many forum discussions, and I've been trying to fix it every day over the past two weeks. My games frequently crash, especially when launching them, and I notice a similar error or memory issue. The error message reads an address of 0x000000003f800110. Online sources suggest that higher addresses often point to driver problems, while lower ones are kernel-related. I'm not sure what these terms mean or exactly which type of address is involved. More details: My games keep crashing for various reasons, but they seem to improve after replacing parts of my computer. Over the past week, I've swapped out almost every component except the CPU. This leads me to think the memory controller on the CPU might be the culprit. I'm hoping someone can confirm or clarify this so I know whether a new CPU is necessary. Actions taken: Disabled DDU-safemode and internet access, tried multiple drivers (MOBO, RAM3x, NVME, PSU). The biggest improvement came when I swapped my GPU from 3070 to 6950xt, which resolved the crashes in about 90% of games. Still, I face issues with UE games. I've cleaned all drives using Diskpart and reinstalled Windows twice. Downgraded to Windows 10, but the problem remains. I switched back to Windows 11, expanded the page file, adjusted registry settings like TDR delay, and followed other tips. Ran memory tests (memtest86, testmem5, OCCT, Windows diagnostics). The Intel diagnostic tool passed all checks consistently. Even the memory controller test succeeded. Despite this, I still can't play games smoothly. -Wiped all drives with Diskpart and reinstalled Windows 11 twice. Downgraded to Windows 10, but it didn’t fix everything. Updated BIOS and changed XMP settings. Used IPDT, TestMem5, OCCT, and Windows diagnostics. I have three different RAM configurations, and each time they register correctly. -SFC, DISM, chkdsk commands ran, though they fixed issues before but not after. I'm still unsure what's happening or how to resolve it. My goal is to enjoy Remnant II with friends, but this is really frustrating. Thank you for your help—I'd appreciate any advice or steps you can suggest.
Very sorry to hear you've tried all of those things and haven't had any luck. You've done a lot of good troubleshooting! It wouldn't have been a bad thing to have posted all of this stuff initially btw Here's a wild crazy idea... have you tried this ? Apparently someone was having crashes and they linked their Epic Games account to Ubisoft... like... what the heck? But it did fix it LMAO It actually makes a lot of sense to me, since it seems that you only have issues with games... seems you can run every other crazy thing under the sun without issues, just games crash. Here's another thing to try: GFN crashes on every Ubisoft Connect login screen : r/GeForceNOW (reddit.com) Do any of these demos crash ? I'm starting to wonder if any game crashes, or only games connected to some of these only account things crash. i. e. if you installed EA Play and installed Apex... would it crash? If I understand correctly, seems it's all Ubisoft/Steam games that are crashing. Assuming all of the components were NIB (new in box) are you replacing things with the same component? Or different models? If you list out your exact components and what's been replaced with what, that might help I'm not comfortable (based on what we know so far) saying that if you buy a CPU it will fix it. Your Intel CPU should be in warranty, so I would think you could talk to Intel, and tell them what you've done, and see what they say. To be honest, things don't really add up to me. When you have Windows being corrupted consistently and DISM fixing problems... I would normally point at RAM, RAM slots, or failing NVME drives. I'd say you have a bad cable somewhere, but it doesn't seem like you're re-using any cables. (i.e. a SATA drive with a flakey cable... replace the drive, but not the cable... problem continues) You aren't using any PCI-E riser cables are you?
the first game to ever present a problem was fifa 23 an ea game. I've just booted up for honor and it seems to be working, but my pc turned itself off overnight. I will link my epic account to ubi but I dont think that will change anything. this is a fresh install of windows and i havent even downloaded the epic installer on this pc yet. I will look at the reddit thread you posted thank you for the help. No PCI-E riser. my 6950xt has 2-8pins in it and both are directly connected to the PSU. No sata cables are in the build anymore initially I had a volatile SSD and some 2 harddrives. but they've all been taken out to troubleshoot. only storage device in the system rn is a samsung 970. that i just bought from amazon. Today seems to be only UE games not allowing me to play still the same error Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0xffffffffffffffff I get these or low level fatal errors. Im starting to think its not my cpu because its allowing me to play other games. Unfortunately, an RMA or a replacement is not available. Apparently, running XMP as speeds overspec'd for the CPU they consider that a CPU OC and it voids the warranty on your CPU D:
Have you performed a memtest? Use one memory stick, test all slots, then switch to another. Consider Unigine Island demo or valley benchmark. Next, try superposition, then use furmark or similar at full settings. Keep an eye on CPU and GPU temps while it runs, leave programs open until they end, and record how long each lasted.
I have thoroughly checked the memory setup. There are 6 RAM sticks in total, from three different brands at varying speeds. All tests were successful and recognized correctly. I performed Memtest86, testmem5, OCCT, and Windows Memory Diagnostic—each passed. I ran Memtest on a single stick from two brands overnight. Tested them for at least two hours using Memtest only. Every possible configuration was tried. I’m not convinced it’s related to the RAM itself; my initial assumption was about the DIMM slots. After replacing the board entirely, the issues persisted. I’ve also used Cinebench and Heaven Benchmark, both completed without problems. I’ve been troubleshooting with an open case and fans blowing directly into the system. Temperatures remain normal across all hardware. I’m using HWinfo to monitor temperatures, which are excellent. I frequently encounter SCF corruption. Even after upgrading to a new NVMe drive and installing Windows via Media Creation Tool, problems occurred on both old and new builds. Recently, games stopped crashing when I switched GPUs, but UE titles now consistently crash at launch with memory errors. When XMP is disabled, the issues shift to shader compression or TDR timing errors.
