Error encountered during startup in GTA Online
Hey!
I've been looking everywhere but didn't find anything, which is why I'm here.
I've attempted to overclock my CPU with Intel XTU, but it didn't work. I ended up with lots of blue screens and crashes even after resetting the base clocks and swapping the motherboard battery. Even though I tried starting online from the main menu, it loaded fine. Then I had to reinstall Windows because my PC froze every time I tried to idle. After the reinstall, crashes and blue screens happened occasionally, but I can't even open GTA Online from the main menu—I just load into story mode, but when I try online it freezes and shows a BSOD with a "machine check exception" code.
My setup details:
i7-6400T
GeForce GTX 980 TI
16 GB DDR4 RAM
ASRock H170 Pro 4 motherboard
Chieftech 650W power supply
Any advice? Was this issue experienced before?
When you changed the mobo battery, did it display a message similar to "CMOS reset, press F1 to enter Setup" or something comparable? Did you actually reset your CMOS? Have you attempted to test the system by installing one stick of RAM at a time? It’s possible the RAM is faulty.
Yes, when I reset it it displayed the lines, and I also noticed a single stick of RAM in the third slot from the 24pin connector as expected. I overclocked my RAM but reset it to Auto mode, and I can't test with other RAM because this is my only DDR4 RAM. TY for the reply
Ah, I generally figure once people have 16+GB, that it's two sticks.
Was the system rock solid stable before you tinkered with the CPU OC? (OCing a 6700T on a H170 board isn't even possible). If it was stable before, then clearly there's a setting still messing things up. But my money is still on faulty RAM.
