Error encountered during SCEP certificate enrollment for WORKGROUP\DESKTOP-M1H3M3S.
Hello everyone, over the past three months my PC has been experiencing random hardlocks, especially while gaming. The screen would freeze and I couldn't use CTRL-ALT-DEL, plus the mouse would stop working. There was also background noise. I've tried almost everything to fix it, but nothing worked. After a game crash, I restarted the PC and checked the Event Viewer for more details. I found an error that triggered the freeze:
"SCEP Certificate enrollment initialization for WORKGROUP\DESKTOP-M1H3M3S$ via https://AMD-KeyId-578c545f796951421221a4...s/Aik/scep failed: GetCACaps GetCACaps: Not Found"
The message said the authority didn't exist, and it returned a 404 error. The PC logs showed the issue started around December 16th, 2022.
My system specs are: AMD RYZEN 9 3900X GPU, ASUS ROG STRIX OC RX 5700XT, motherboard ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII, 2x 16GB RAM at 3200MHz, NZXT Kraken X62, Corsa RM850 PSU, and a Samsung M2 980PRO SSD for 1TB.
I've reinstalled Windows 10 with default BIOS settings, but the freezes continue. I've also done clean installs of Windows 11 and 10 without success. The latest BIOS is up to date, drivers are fresh, and I'm still facing these problems. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Same problem but for a rog laptop. See this guide: https://community.amd.com/t5/processors/...m-p/546630
It seems there were several adjustments made during the setup process. I corrected some issues and tried different configurations, but the challenges persisted. I went through various steps like reinstalling Windows, changing settings, and updating drivers, yet encountered recurring problems. The experience was a mix of troubleshooting and learning what doesn’t work.
Usually avoids replying or commenting unless absolutely necessary, but after thoroughly investigating this matter for ten months, I feel compelled to share my findings. My main concern wasn’t the SCEP Error itself, but the frustrating BSODs and complete freezes. Before joining this discussion, I tried several solutions—spending a month testing at Microcenter and then submitting a full return request to NZXT with a new graphics card (which was also dealing with an NVIDIA-related error).
I followed every step outlined by Zestyclose_Dirt6336: removing AI Suite 3, Armoury Crate, and disabling all Asus/ROG services via System Config. I also stopped the AURA Service, ROG Live Service, GameSDK Service, and other related add-ons. Then I completely disabled AsusCertService to prevent the SCEP Certificate Initialization process.
At this stage, full lockups lessened but still happened occasionally. Checking the Control Panel’s Reliability Monitor revealed critical failures linked to GameServiceManager3.exe—the main Razer Synapse executable.
Key point: Uninstalling Razer Synapse resolved all my display problems and lockups, even though the SCEP Error persists. After reinstalling Armoury Crate, I didn’t encounter any further issues, likely because manual driver updates aren’t necessary for me.
In my opinion, a mix of Asus software, Razer Synapse, and Chroma Visualizer might have caused my RGB keyboard to act as a monitor, disrupting my actual displays. While I have many theories, I’m just relieved my computer is now stable again. Wishing everyone facing similar challenges the best outcomes.
