Error encountered during late-game progression in Civ 6 due to access violation.
I've been encountering this bothersome issue with nearly every late-game crash I've experienced while playing Civ 6 using the Yet (not) Another Map Pack mod on a large-scale map, along with some other maps at higher graphics settings. Oddly enough, the problem still occurs occasionally even when all mods are turned off. It seems to be fixable by zooming in on empty ocean or desert areas and ending your turn, though this hasn't resolved it completely for me. Some players have managed to resolve the issue by switching from Direct X 11 to 12, but it hasn't worked for me. I've been monitoring CPU, GPU, RAM, and VRAM usage, and even with maximum graphics settings, my system smoothly runs the game without exceeding 60% utilization during crashes. All other games function normally, including more demanding titles like Halo Infinite. Interestingly, I faced the same problem on my older prebuilt Corsair One i160. Anyone can help clarify what might be causing this?
After reviewing crash logs in Windows Event Viewer over the past months, it appears the main problem is RAM leakage due to Civ 6's outdated launcher. Noticing more instability since the new launcher was introduced a few years ago, I realized Windows' built-in leakage prevention may force the game to close instead of letting it use memory. Following advice from a Reddit post, I disabled the launcher using launch options, which helped stabilize things. An article about disabling Windows' program-blocking feature also came up, but it seemed unnecessary.
