Since installing my new AMD Athlon X4 880k CPU, I've encountered the Kernel Security Check Failure BSOD. Initially it happened every couple of days, then more frequently each day. After about a month, the issue escalated to occurring three to six times daily. I'm unsure what's causing this and none of the troubleshooting steps have helped. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You haven't reinstalled Windows. Was the CPU modification the only change, or was the motherboard altered as well?

It might be useful to reinstall. Windows has sometimes behaved strangely, and a fresh installation resolved the issue.

Unfortunately, I lack a large external hard drive to keep all my Windows files, which makes it unclear how to proceed.

You're asking about the location of your Windows files. This typically refers to where your operating system and data are stored on your computer.

You'll need to obtain a backup of your Windows files before reinstalling. A large external hard drive would be ideal for storing your 600 GB of data.

Avoid purchasing a 2TB external hard drive with a $100 discount on Amazon; you’ll likely need to back up your data regardless.

My son is experiencing exactly the same problem. I upgraded his PC from an AMD A4 6300 to an AMD Athlon X4 880k, and I've also been encountering the Kernel Security Check Failure BSOD. Initially, this error started appearing after about an hour of gaming each day. I don't know what's causing it, and none of the solutions I found have worked. Even after reinstalling Windows 10, I think EasyTune might be the issue—it tried to remove Easytune but left files hidden. I reinstalled fresh Windows 10, but the problem still exists. Someone suggested formatting the disk before installation and installing only GPU drivers without utilities. Here are my specs: OS is Windows 10 Home 64-bit, CPU is AMD Athlon X4 880k, RAM is 16GB Dual Channel DDR3, motherboard from Gigabyte F2A58HM-DS2, GPU is Radeon RX560 4GB. The PC worked with the old CPU, but now it doesn't. Any advice?
