Error during Windows startup after changing RAM slots.
Error during Windows startup after changing RAM slots.
I frequently encountered blue screens with messages like "Bad_pool_caller" and "CRITICAL STRUCTURE CORRUPTION." To check, I performed basic system checks using DISM and sfc /scannow. The problem persisted, so I double-checked everything on my PC, especially after moving the RAM stick during a recent transfer. When I restarted, Windows displayed a boot error code 0xc0000001. After some investigation, I traced the issue to the RAM slots. Although the error is fixed now, it made me concerned about potential hardware issues. If anyone knows why swapping the RAM slots led to this problem, it would be helpful.
The details of this exchange are unclear. Typically, the rule is to place a single stick in slot 1, two sticks in slots 2 and 4, four sticks one in each slot, two sticks in slots 1 and 2, or three sticks sometimes, though memory tends to stick to a single channel.
Apologies for the confusion. I had two items in positions 1 and 3. After exchanging them, the item in position 3 moved to position 1 and vice versa.
I haven't come across any information about ram training before, but I'm willing to explore it. Thanks!
Typically, when you shift RAM or rearrange PCI/PCIe cards, turn off the machine, disconnect the power cable, and keep the power button pressed for about ten seconds. You don’t need to reset the BIOS or take out the RTC battery (it’s usually fine). Reconnect the power and restart. It’s wise to enter BIOS/UEFI before the operating system loads just to verify everything is working properly.
