I've been facing unusual USB behavior lately. It varies from devices not responding at all to complete drops across every port, including headers. I don’t use any hubs. This seems random, but it mostly occurs when starting up or when the affected device isn’t used. The main USB disconnects have happened only twice yet still occur more often than expected. When it does, it feels like power and data were cut off and then reconnected—yet nothing appears on screen, and the system operates normally otherwise. Even Event Viewer doesn’t log anything. If it’s just the keyboard or mouse, power reaches them but the visual effects freeze until I remove the device. Recently, syncing external drives to the cloud via a Mega update has caused total USB failure plus disconnection of the Bluetooth module. The Ethernet port has also dropped twice. Most experts point to the motherboard, though it worked with an older board before I received a replacement. Some suggest the Z690 chipset is involved, as it appears on Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte. Others think it might be related to power supply or RAM, but testing RAM didn’t help. Power seems fine too—system runs well even when everything’s connected for days or weeks. I’ve also found an error in Reliability Monitor: a "Live Kernel Event" code 144 about USBXHCI issues. No clear fix has been found; uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t resolve it. I’ve tried different ports, devices, and settings—keyboard, mouse, peripherals all work on another machine. I disabled USB power management, updated BIOS, changed RAM, used Task Manager, Event Viewer, Reliability Monitor, and Resource Monitor. Only the Reliability Monitor shows this error. I’m sharing what I’ve learned and tested so others can help.

Another update: Everything is now failing completely again. All external connections—keyboard, mouse, etc.—are dropping out. I’m confused about what’s happening. The event viewer keeps reporting disk disconnections, but there’s no clear reason behind it. I’ve tested every USB port, yet the problem persists. It pauses if I avoid heavy USB usage, but whenever I sync my external drive with MEGA and run a full scan, it keeps failing due to these disconnects. The issue affects both power and data connections. I also tried a powered USB hub and removed all high-power devices, but the same problem continues.
