Error during startup of Asus P5Q laptop.
Hey! I just got my hardware and built an XP gaming PC. But when I attempt to install Windows XP, it keeps failing for some odd reason. I've tried installing from CD, DVD RW, DVD RW, and even USB sticks. It boots normally and works with a spare laptop's hard drive, so everything seems fine. When I try to install XP, I see a white blinking "Strip" screen instead of the usual setup. The motherboard is Asus P5Q, but I haven't found any details online about it. Just to be sure, nothing appears to be broken. My specs are: Intel Pentium E6700, 4GB RAM, Inno 3D 8800GT, 500W PSU, 500GB WD Green HDD, and an Asus P5Q DVD RW+R combo drive.
Consider using IDE mode instead of AHCI for XP. It might resolve the issue. After installation, you can switch to AHCI later (tutorials available online). Another option is to install XP on a different machine and boot from P5Q afterward. If BSOD occurs, try Paragon Adaptive Restore bootable ISO and select "Adjust OS."
