Hey there, I'm facing a problem with my PC crashing during intense gaming sessions. It mostly happens when the system is under heavy load—like during a multiplayer match on Overwatch—but the main menu works just fine. Even then, it's not always stable. The crashes feel unusual; the machine doesn't restart automatically or power down completely. Instead, it freezes and I have to manually restart it from my case. After restarting, things usually return to normal until I start playing a game again, even then sometimes nothing works.

I've tried several fixes: updating the BIOS, running memory tests, and updating GPU drivers. None of those helped. In Event Viewer, when it crashes, an error appears saying "Event 1796: The Secure Boot update failed to update a Secure Boot variable with error Secure Boot is not enabled on this machine." I'm not sure what that means or how to fix it.

My current specs are: AMD Ryzen 5 1600, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, 48 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, 600W PSU, AORUS B450 Pro WiFi, BIOS version F65, Windows 11 Home 23H2. I'm hoping someone can offer more advice or suggestions.

This setup uses the latest chipset drivers. Do you have an idea of the device model?

Verify secure boot status in BIOS. Adjust settings accordingly. Save changes via F10 and restart the system.

The setup uses 8 GB in slots 1 and 3, 16 GB in slots 2 and 4, with DDR4 RAM. I think the chipset drivers are current, but I should verify. For the power supply, I’m pretty sure it’s an EVGA model rated at 600W.

I'll attempt it. Currently, CSM support is active, but I think turning it off would be better.

Have you considered using two 16GB drives instead of one 8GB?

You have two sets: one with 8GB and another with 16GB each.

Test using only two sticks. Likely Zen1 faces memory management problems.

I'll attempt that. I assumed it was related to the BIOS and the secure boot warning.

Completely reasonable. I hope it settles the matter for you.
