I recently attempted to set up Debian 12 on my computer and ended up with a dark screen that glitches every few seconds. My machine specs include an Intel I3 7600U, 8 GB of RAM, and a Nvidia 920MX graphics card.

When this occurs, you can reach the tty by pressing Ctr+Alt+F2 (or any F key up to 11). Login by entering your username and password. Follow the "Install Nvidia Drivers Via Debian Repository" section in the guide for installing the Nvidia driver. If you're unsure about a non-gui interface, consider using a different distribution like Pop-OS that comes with preinstalled drivers.

Pop Os isn't compatible with those platforms. It doesn't work on Teamspeak, OMV, or Nextcloud. You might need a different client for them.

I wouldn't suggest using Debian for NVIDIA GPUs; it's similar to the issues others faced. Pop OS works well, but for a smoother experience with Gnome, Fedora would be better.

Pop_OS! is developed by System76 so that they could provide a much-needed better experience on the devices they sell. They realized GPU switching from cpu-based to dedicated gpu needed work in Linux and they have made this a much better experience. Also they backport updated software to their systems like the Linux kernel to allow newer hardware to work instead of needing to wait for the system / distro software maintainers, who control what comes through in updates, so that you get hardware support much sooner. Otherwise you'd have to wait for Ubuntu 23.04 to release if you were using 22.10 if that new system used a new kernel which contained hardware support. Instead, System76 pushes newer hardware enablement updates to the pop_os system so you get a much better experience.

Pop-OS relies mostly on the same codebase as Debian, making it functional. However, since it’s designed for desktops, finding server-related problems can be tricky.

Here are some options you might like: mageia, Nobara Project, MX Linux, Clear Linux, Mint, GhostBSD. If you have solid computer skills and are okay with checking the manual occasionally, consider Devuan, Void Linux, Artix Linux, FreeBSD, NixOS, OpenBSD, or Alpine Linux. Note that Clear Linux, Devuan, OpenBSD, and Alpine Linux aren't suitable because of your Nvidia setup.
