I purchased a new high-quality thermal paste and plan to use fresh paste again. It’s possible my previous application was too thick or the material wasn’t up to standard. Still, I was careful before, so expectations aren’t very high. My cooling airflow isn’t ideal (though not terrible, since the case should handle it) and I might add an extra fan on the back side of the PC.

This seems like a straightforward answer for me.

Additionally, CPU fan could have been turned off during monitoring.

It seems confusing why Corsair suggests using the standard CPU_FAN header instead of the AIO header. You can connect the AIO cable directly to that header, which might simplify things. Consider changing it if you want better compatibility or performance. Keeping the CPU fan control off in the BIOS could also help, depending on your setup. There may be advantages to one method over the other.

Unfortunately, the Corsair AIO reaches its maximum capacity. Your units appear to be quite powerful. What is the noise level of your fans?

Normal speed for a D5 pump seems correct. Currently they run around 1100 rpm, which isn't too loud. You have five fans: three at 1200 RPM and two at 1400 RPM. It gets quieter at 1800 RPM, reaching its peak at 2200 RPM. This maintains a steady cooling for a 9900k and two 2080Ti processors. The temperature probe keeps it around water temperature, with fans capping at 50°C, but dropping to 45°C when running RDR2 at 1440p at 240Hz. Maximum settings are in GeForce Experience.

It seems the cable connected to the AIO header is mainly a tachometer wire, used to track pump speed. The power for the pump and fans comes from SATA connections, while fan and pump commands are sent via iCUE through USB2 and Commander Core. The AIO pump header typically functions like a fan header but delivers higher current without the ability to adjust speed—operating at full capacity continuously. For more details, check the motherboard manual or the relevant forum discussions.

The AIO Pump is a newer capability introduced in recent models, while older systems lacked it, prompting Liquid Coolers to connect directly to the CPU Fan.
