Error detected in hard drive during startup.

I have Windows 11 installed on my internal SSD in a Dell Inspiron 3520. I also added an HDD from an older Dell laptop, which I wiped before installing the new one. The previous Dell model still faced issues, but now my current laptop shows an error when starting up, stating it's outside normal parameters. The hard drive itself functions properly and even allowed me to reinstall Windows 10. This boot-time warning is becoming bothersome. Any advice to resolve this?

Did you verify the port settings? The HDD might not be properly linked. The warning could stem from an incorrect SATA speed configuration.

It's a Dell laptop with a tightly restricted BIOS. I experienced the same problem with this model, even though it came with the same issue. Edit: The HDD that came with was actually running a completely different Windows version—Windows 7 Pro—and encountered the same error.

Can you check, if ther is an option saying something like SATA-Speed? Usually there should be kind of a setting group for Sata config in either the tab Hardware or advanced.

Is the notification visible during startup or within Windows? If it shows up in the boot sequence, consider turning off secureboot.

I didn’t understand what I was doing, but pressing F9 and resetting BIOS to its original settings fixed the issue. Thanks!
