I recall this old drive functioning on an older computer. It appears in Disk Management but displays "Unknown" instead of a specific status when you right-click to initialize. I attempted using the MiniTool Partition Wizard, but it didn’t appear there. Please let me know how you'd like to proceed.

It's a 2.5-inch hard drive with a 1 TB capacity.

Feel free to format it as needed for a command prompt if you prefer.

as i progress to the step of creating a partition, the system reports an issue: DiskPart found an error stating a device that doesn't exist was specified. Check the System Event Log for details. Even after attempting initialization through Windows Disk Management, it still indicates there is no device available.

The device makes an unusual ticking noise during operation, which ceased after I performed the cmd format.

It looks like the drive isn't working properly. The best option I could think of is attempting a secure erase using Parted Magic, though the likelihood of success seems small.
