Hi all, I am trying to set up a samba share (as the title would imply) but I can't get the permissions correct it seems... My server is running CentOS Linux 7 and my client is running Arch Linux. Using the command smbclient //192.168.1.1/dropbox -U smbclient%mypassword I get this output: Try "help" to get a list of possible commands. smb: \> ls NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \* smb: \> My smb.conf is pretty long so here is the output of using testparm: [root@susan samba]# testparm smb.conf Load smb config files from smb.conf Loaded services file OK. Server role: ROLE_STANDALONE Press enter to see a dump of your service definitions # Global parameters [global] dns proxy = No log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 50 server role = standalone server server string = Samba Server idmap config * : backend = tdb [homes] browseable = No comment = Home Directories read only = No [printers] browseable = No comment = All Printers path = /usr/spool/samba printable = Yes [dropbox] comment = Dropbox for Susan create mask = 0765 path = /disks/smb_test read only = No valid users = smbclient Doing ls -Z on smb_test shows this: drwxrws---. smbclient sambashare unconfined_u:object_r:unlabeled_tConfused0 smb_test I know it will be one tiny stupid mistake! Let me know if you need any more infomation.

You configured it on Debian prior to RHEL, though the process might vary. Did you establish the SAMBA user?
