My computer has been experiencing crashes and blue screens, mostly during gaming sessions. The problem seems unpredictable—sometimes it works for days, other times it freezes after about 40 minutes of play. The most frequent error message is CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED with no additional details or a dump file generated. I’ve also encountered SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION without further information or a log file. After a full reinstall using only Steam and Discord, the issue continues, leading me to suspect hardware issues. One shared symptom is that after a restart, the NVMe drive isn’t recognized by Windows, requiring a shutdown before it loads again. I’m unsure what’s causing this and would appreciate some guidance to help identify the root cause. I’ve run a memory diagnostic, which suggests RAM is likely fine. The CrystalDiskInfo report doesn’t highlight any obvious boot drive problems, though I’m not certain. More details about the blue screen: the game freezes, background audio plays (music or sound) for a short time before the crash, and I can interact with Chrome by pressing Alt+Tab and moving the mouse, but I can’t open Task Manager. After that, background sounds become a buzzing noise, followed by a reboot after some time. After restarting, everything functions normally until another blue screen appears. Hardware specs: Windows 11, Ryzen 5900X, EK AIO Gigabyte B550 Vision D motherboard, 32GB Crucial Ballistix 3600 XPG Gammix S50, 2TB NVMe drive on Asus TUF 3080.

Ryzen and compatible boards are often discussed around RAM, and it seems they might avoid sleep mode as well. Previously, Ballistix was suggested for Ryzen, but now three units have caused issues. Check your exact RAM part number (SKU) on Gigabyte's QVL list for this board and processor.

I'm testing another M2 slot to check if it fixes the issue. I visited microcenter to get a new SSD for comparison. If the problem lies with the motherboard's M2 port, then extra storage is fine. For RAM, I located the compatible model: BL8G36C16U4W. It's functioning properly for two years. I'll share my progress soon, possibly faster if I can quickly reproduce the blue screen problems.
