I recently attempted a complete AMD build using the new 7800x3d for Rust, which is my primary game. Each time I launch it, the crash occurs within 2 minutes to 3 hours, triggering event error 1002. I've invested more than 50 hours trying various solutions and consulted multiple IT professionals and AMD forums, yet nothing seems to resolve the issue. Despite the successful build of another version with a different GPU, this one continues to fail. I'm seeking advice on why this error persists. Even though the GPU performance is solid from my previous experience, I'm considering upgrading to an i7 13700k and a Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX for better stability. I'm also exploring MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk with Wi-Fi and Ryzen 7800x3d, Samsung 980 Pro Corsair Vengeance at 6000MHz DDR5 (on QVL) or Trident GSKill 6000MHz DDR5 (non-QVL). Neither of these changes has fixed the problem. I appreciate any insights you can offer.

It might be related to a Radeon driver or an operating system problem. Have you tried updating your OS? It could simply be a driver issue. Check if others have faced the same problems with the same game and consider switching to a stable driver version.

Tested Windows 11 and 10 versions. Updated GPU drivers to the newest and oldest releases. Reinstalled chipset drivers as well. Used Expo on and off, plus adjusted voltages via AMD support forums on Reddit. Set RAM speed to lower frequencies like 5200 MHz. Applied PBO and turned it off. Disabled onboard GPU. Performed SFC scan and disk cleanup which resolved issues. Enabled High Performance Power Mode and ran Rust as administrator. No domain account exists on my PC; I haven’t encountered this problem before. Latest BIOS update applied. Completed multiple benchmarks and stress tests (userbenchmark, OCCT, Prime95, AIDA64, 3DMark). Ran Memtest86+ on both RAM configurations. All tests passed without errors. I’m unable to locate anyone online discussing this specific error code 1002, especially since it impacted my new system. However, searching for “Rust crashing” shows most affected builds use AMD CPUs.

I noticed many attempts were made, yet my preferred method would be using a backup drive for a quick fresh OS installation. Before that, I’d update the BIOS and reset to default settings. While I think it might relate more to GPU issues than CPU, it could also be correct. Updating and resetting the BIOS with a new OS and save file probably won’t fix the problem and won’t help you start isolating the issue.

I've used the 6900xt in my previous build for more than a year with an i7 9700k and an ASUS Z390-A, never faced such crashes before, so it makes me believe the GPU is fine. I ran Samsung Magician to check my SSD—it's operating at full advertised speed without any issues.
