Nvapi.dll provides entry to Nvidia's driver. Replace the outdated version and add a fresh one. It could be included in Visual C++, yet the problem may lie with the Nvidia driver itself.

I removed the existing drivers, but it seems they also removed the AMD ones. To fix this, I need to reinstall the NVIDIA graphics card, replace the old drivers with DDU, and then install the AMD drivers again?

You can choose which drivers to delete in DDU. It seems unclear if your setup includes an Nvidia GPU.
